Beach Hop 2019!

Beach Hop! A cultural phenomenon, where Classic Cars and Rock’n’Roll culture take over the sandy beach town of Whangamata in the Coromandel

Held every year since 2001, 'The Hop' is a mecca for car enthusiasts across NZ, attracting over 120,000 people and raising over $40k for local charities every year. Thousands of classics and hundreds of retro bikes arrive polished up in full glory.

BurgerFuel set up the container kitchen, serving three gourmet burgers of choice to all the hungry petrol heads over the three days. The team packed in on Wednesday and left on Sunday after selling out!

The BurgerFuel promo team loved the opportunity to rev up and cruise around in the BurgerFuel classic cars, taking passengers for rides and joining in on the cruises. These cruises infinitely weaved around the streets as thousands of cars joined the procession while being waved at by even more people lining the streets. Any day that the BurgerFuel '72 Ford Fairmont, '70 Oldsmobile Cutlass , '64 Buick Riviera and '67 Plymouth Barracuda are out is a damn good day by our standards.

Our very own Vika (who works at BurgerFuel HQ and in the promo team) was invited to be a judge for the BurgerFuel Retro Pinup Girl contest, Junk Yard Fashion Show and Talent Quest. Alongside her on the judge’s panel was an ex-All Black, a radio host and a Shortland Street actor (that almost sounds like the beginning of a bad joke). 

At BurgerFuel, Beach Hop is our kind of weekend getaway. It was a privilege, once again for BurgerFuel to partner with Repco Beach Hop and help crank out another exceptional event. Of course, this was all done in all our purple glory and we’re already getting ready for a bigger and better event next year, let’s hope the sun stays out for a little longer next year
